Web Video Equipment – The Biggest Hurdle Most People Face Getting Started With Web Video

When I first started with web video, the biggest stumbling block I faced was trying to figure out what equipment I needed. I purchased a web video DVD course, and based on the recommendations in that course I purchased a Sony video camera.

That was my first big mistake, and it almost made me quit web video. I could not get that camera to work with my computer or the video editing software I was using. It took me almost 3 months of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole before I finally figured out the camera was all wrong for web video.

If you’re just starting out, you can avoid the mistake I made because I am going to share with you the 3 items your camera should have to work well for web video.

You also need to know about Microphones. You will have a lot of choices when it comes to microphones, but it really comes down to the type of video you plan to shoot. The bottom line is, you will need a microphone. I know, your camera has a built in microphone, but that won’t do if you plan on doing video on a regular basis.

Your microphone, in my opinion, may be the most important piece of equipment you use, so choose wisely. If people click on your video and they can’t hear you, they will quickly close your video and move on.

And then we have lighting. You may find it hard to believe right now, especially if you are just getting started with web video, but lighting is actually pretty easy. Especially when you have the right equipment. And it does not cost an arm and a leg to buy lighting equipment. Or any equipment for that matter.
